About
Dr. Hochman grew up in Houston, Texas. He went to college at University of Texas (UT) in Austin where he received two degrees with Honors. While at UT he received the National Collegiate Natural Science Award, the Award of Distinction in the School of Geography, and the All-American Scholar Collegiate Award.
He completed medical school at the University of Texas Medical Branch in Galveston, Texas, where he received the Global Healthcare Scholarship to pursue his interest in indigent care in Latin America. He completed his residency in Denver at the University of Colorado. There he was chosen to serve as chief resident, and was awarded the Psychiatry Academic Achievement Award. He is board certified in General Adult Psychiatry by the American Board of Psychiatry and Neurology. Dr. Hochman is now very happy to be back in Austin with his family and two rescue dogs. You can find him with his inflatable kayak in his trunk at all times, or on one of the many greenbelt trails. He is very interested in nutrition and exercise physiology, always trying to practice eating whole foods and optimize his exercise regimen. |
Philosophy
Throughout Dr. Hochman's medical training, he became increasingly curious about what actually causes diseases to progress or continue. There is now very strong research and evidence that most causes of disease are poor lifestyle habits and behaviors. These, in turn, are often psychologically driven by who we are in very deep ways that are not amenable to conventional medical approaches of either medication or brief education.
With the medical training of a physician and the psychological expertise of a psychiatrist, Dr. Hochman is passionate about performing a truly unique and encompassing approach to symptoms that bridge existing gaps in medical care. His technique has proven to be effective for a range of conditions that patients have commonly been living with for many years.
